How to choose a web development partner in 2026

Seven questions that separate a studio that ships from one that stalls, from scope and pricing to what happens after launch.

Picking a web development partner is one of the highest-leverage decisions a growing company makes. The right studio ships a fast, search-friendly product and keeps improving it. The wrong one burns months. Here are the questions we would ask if we were in your seat.

1. Do they scope in writing before quoting?

A serious partner runs discovery first and turns it into a written scope: pages, features, integrations and what is explicitly out of scope. Quotes without scope are guesses.

2. Is pricing fixed per phase?

Fixed price per phase keeps incentives aligned. You know the cost of each milestone and can stop or adjust between phases.

3. How often will you see working software?

Weekly demos on a staging link beat monthly status reports. Ask to see a staging environment from a past project.

4. Is SEO built in or bolted on?

Metadata, structured data, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals and clean URLs should be part of the build, not a later upsell. See our web & e-commerce development approach.

5. Who owns the code and accounts?

You should own the repository, domain, hosting and analytics accounts from day one.

6. What happens after launch?

Products need monitoring, updates and iteration. Ask for a clear support plan with response times.

7. Can they show results, not just screenshots?

Look for measurable outcomes: load time, conversion rate, revenue, rankings.

The short version

Choose the partner that writes things down, shows progress weekly, builds for search from the start and stays after launch. If that sounds like what you need, start a conversation with us.
